Student volunteers for Immaculata Pickers, a community outreach program, strolled the neighborhoods of Raritan on the eve of the town’s return to regular bulk garbage pickup. In the program’s history this has been the second best mission—three great items were rescued. One moment, for greater reflection later, occurred when the team witnessed a woman stuffing her car with dresser drawers. Many marginalized people cannot even afford discounted furniture from thrift shops. When a request arrives from Catholic Charities or one of our other affiliates, Immaculata offers ALL furniture to the marginalized for free; we also deliver for free.
