Runners Shine at Skyland Conference Meet

The Immaculata Cross Country team had their most successful outing in program history! This morning, the Skyland Conference Championship was held at Phillipsburg High School and both the boys and girls squads took First Place in the Mountain Division. This is the first time that both teams have achieved this at the same meet.

The team was led by Senior TJ Harkins, who was crowned "Skyland Conference Champion" by placing 1st in the Varsity Boys race, for his third major win in as many meets. Junior, James Ptack, had an excellent performance, placing 4th. The rest of the Varsity squad consisted of Senior, Michael Blandino, Sophomores, Michael Harkins and Curtis Quintos, Freshman, Michael Schippnick, who ran his first varsity race, and Junior, Sean Castellano.

On the girls side, the team was led by Freshman, Fiona Quinn, who completed her first high school varsity race. The rest of the squad consisted of Sophomores, Alison Naples, Lauren Beers, Alyssa Amster, Ivy Zaleski, and Alicia Leclerc. This was a fantastic performance by a group consisting of all underclassmen. The future is bright for this young squad!

The team is in action again next Wednesday, October 23 at the Somerset County Championship meet being held at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge. Best of luck to everyone.
