Dr. Carl Imhauser ’93 meets with Marian Scholars
Posted on 02/25/2019
Dr. Carl ImhauserThe Marian Scholar freshmen and sophomores recently met with Dr. Carl Imhauser ’93, a biomedical engineer at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in NYC, and member of the IHS Class of 2019 Hall of Fame. He spoke with them about his career as a researcher and presenter at professional conferences. His goal was to show them how to present their own work at our upcoming Marian Scholar Symposium on May 19, 2019. His expertise and passion were inspiring to our younger scholars! Having our alumni come back to school to work with our current students is certainly a gift to the school.

Currently a scientist in HSS’ research division, Carl is an Assistant Professor of Applied Biomechanics at Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical school of Cornell University. His research team aims to understand the mechanical function of the musculoskeletal system, focusing on the knee, after sports injuries, reconstructive surgery, or joint replacement. His group’s work is well-published, is funded by the National Institute of Health, and has led to three patents.
